Peggy Homan

Strategic Initiatives and Community Relations Manager | she/her/hers

As the Centre’s Strategic Initiatives and Community Relations Manager, I work closely with Dr. Andrea Reid to support a broad range of activities such as the Centre’s Annual Partners Gathering, community-focused events, and the Centre’s Indigenous Advisory Council. I am our main contact for UBC internal and external community partners and collaborators.

I have a strong background in communications, stakeholder engagement and administration. Prior to joining UBC in 2018, I worked closely with Canadian scientists at the National Research Council of Canada as a Communications Officer. While working for Statistics Canada, I was on the Government of Canada’s Yukon Indigenous Liaison team and spent time in First Nations communities north of Whitehorse.

My work at UBC includes a year with the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre, a year with the Sauder School of Business, and time with the Faculty of Medicine. I hold an honours degree in communications and political science from Carleton University and an executive leadership certificate from Simon Fraser University. I volunteer with several organizations and love spending time in the mountains and in or near the ocean.
