Danielle Nowosad

Dani is Red River Metis-settler who was born, raised, and currently lives on Treaty 1 territory in Manitoba and is a citizen of the Manitoba Metis Nation. Her Metis ancestral family names include the Halletts and Fidlers, who spread across the prairies, and her father's parents immigrated to Canada from Germany in the 1950s in pursuit of a better life. She is an artist, using beadwork and photography as her chosen mediums, a community organizer, an interdisciplinary researcher, and PhD Candidate in Integrative Biology at the University of Guelph. Her scientific work takes place on Inuinnait Nuna in the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut.
